However, I should be able to edit the swatches FROM the Swatches dialog, right? Otherwise what's the point of even having the Swatches dialog. Okay "Prevent sharing of gradient definitions" was on by default. Please tell me if there's any more info you need to know. I've also included two videos to illustrate the issue I'm having. I'm using Inkscape Version 1.0beta2 (77dac4, ), in case that's relevant. Aside from that, it's impossible to stop the number of useless swatches from snowballing new ones are created constantly, and I can't easily reduce the total number of them. The only technique I've found that lets me delete unnecessary swatches is to delete them in the XML Editor dialog. In order to go back, I have to create a new object and assign it a swatch as its fill, which automatically creates a new swatch. Worse, when I try to delete a swatch, it takes me out of where I'm editing the swatches. These swatches accumulate quickly, as every time I need to assign the swatch to an object, I end up creating a new swatch. In the "Fill and Stroke" dialog, every time I select "Swatch" in the fill tab, Inkscape automatically creates a new swatch. I've noticed what seems to be a problem with global Swatches.
